arrow button Taxicabs in Crete and Greece are relatively cheap. Buses do not operate regularly enough and metro or trains do not exist in the island. Thus, booking a taxi is a very convenient and reliable way to reach your destination.
arrow button You can hail a taxi in the street or book it in advance. When you come for the first time it is much easier to book your taxi in advance and ensure that a taxi driver will be waiting for you at your arrival place.
arrow button Be sure before boarding any taxi in Crete that you look for the official Taxicab seal. Taxicabs bearing this seal are insured, have trained drivers and are regularly inspected by the authorities. Any taxicab without the seal is a bandit cab with no legal authorization to operate in the island.
arrow button Different vehicle colours exist in Crete depending on the part of the territory that they serve. All taxicabs that serve outside the main towns are silver, metallic and this is the most common taxicab colour in the island. In Chania town, taxicabs are blue, in Rethymnon white and in all other places silver.
